AMERICA WON!
I got the news; "the Democrats have taken the Houseā
I literally started weeping.
For me, this has never been about partisanship.
It's about our Democracy.
It's about the loss of checks and balances.
It's about a war that's killing our troops and innocent civilians.
It's about drug companies writing Medicare legislation.
It's about oil companies getting huge tax breaks.
It's about corruption and cronyism.
I wept because I was overcome with emotion that America did come through!
Our people saw beyond the labels, the sound bites, the deception...and they said "ENOUGH"
Now, we need to get about the business of holding investigations to assess what's really been going on behind our back (and in some cases under our noses). We need to review many of the laws that have been enacted...particularly those that threaten our Constitution, such as allowing imprisonment and torture without warrant.
I wept because I thought of my grandchildren, Cameron, Aavin, and Ella.
I wept because I thought of my children Shannon, Stephen, and Shaun.
I wept because I thought of my mother H. Emily in her mid-70's
And for my wife Jeanne, and my friends, my neighbors, for every American.
Because up until November 7, 2006 I was in despair and I feared the worst....that this nightmare would continue and our nation would be lost forever.
I'm sure many people still have no idea of just how close we came to a total breakdown of Democracy.
We still have many dangers ahead...the threat of war from countries like Iran, and North Korea.
Our economy is in jeopardy as it is overextended in debt and corporations continue their overwhelming influence at the expense of working Americans.
I pray that the Democratic leadership will demonstrate to the Republicans and the public what it means to have true cooperation!
This isn't about revenge...it's about America.
I chose the name for this blog...I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK.
I got my wish, we all did, We got our country back!
Thank you America!
